The employment permit system mainly includes the "General Employment Permit System (E-9)" and the "Special Employment Permit System (H-2)". Each target requirement, type of job permission, and employment procedure are different. Details can be found here. (https://www.moel.go.kr/policy/policyinfo/foreigner/list1.do(https://eps.hrdkorea.or.kr/h2/h2empl/empPermComp.do).

In addition to E-9 and H-2, you can find a detailed description of the employment and residence status of migrant workers here. Information about immigration can be found in the Korea Immigration Service(www.immigration.go.kr).

The following tips are important to consider if you intend to migrate to the Republic of Korea:

  • Do not migrate without having received a Certificate for Confirmation of Visa Issuance(CCVI) issued by the Republic of Korea's government from your employer
  • Do not accept an employment contract that does not specify your wage, working hours, holidays and workplace in line with the Labour Standards Act
  • Upon arrival in the Republic of Korea, you need to participate in an employment training of at least 20 16 hours.
  • You have the right to change employment if the business you work for is suspended or closed, if you do not receive a salary as well as for other justifiable reasons.
  • Be careful when being asked to pay recruitment fees to private agents since the EPS is based on cooperation between governments.
